Biography

Mike McCarthy, a professional musician and songwriter, has five solo albums and one EP independently released. His latest full-length release is an instrumental album titled COLOURS.

COLOURS was created over the course of ten consecutive days. McCarthy composed and recorded a colour-based song per day. In this album he paints with sound and gained his inspiration to depict the colours from different perspectives.

"The sound is sometimes chaotic with electric guitar loops and reversed cymbals, noise tracks that create atmosphere overlaid with guitar and at other times gentle with the Rhodes, glockenspiel and accordion", says Mike.

In his previous album "The Harrowing Account of John William Tate", McCarthy shows his mastery as a storyteller. The track "Two Bent Frames", which was recorded on a farm and uses a percussion crew where the percussion sounds are all made from implements he found lying around the farm.

His albums are distributed throughout Australia and Japan and available digitally worldwide. As a professional musician, Mike plays with a number of bands including Sons of Korah, M Carney Trio, Birdlife and Soul Traders.
